ABOUT SKYE - THE MOVIE!

More Skye Films are being made!
Scottish Films:
Filming & Production
Traditional & Innovative. Lit from above...

Our new production is Isle of Skye's first DVD and a new type of film:

'Skye - The Movie!'
draws upon a number of film making styles such as Brian Eno's 'Video Paintings' and Ron Fricke's 'Baraka'....

The Isle of Skye has played host to a large number of feature films with its dramatic scenery and legendary atmosphere. It now is portrayed in a film of its own which celebrates a whole year of typical happenings on the famous Scottish island.

Scottish musician and pioneering music distributor Chris Stepien and explorer / film maker Moodi Drury set up Scottish Films to launch ‘Skye – The Movie!’ on DVD and VHS. A typical scene on this largely unspoilt Jurassic island makes atypical viewing, as the film’s director Moodi Drury insists, and he should know. Having spent many, often unsociable hours in all weathers, over a whole year armed with video camera, the result is this collection of the finest shots available, anywhere. At the moment of capturing the full solar eclipse in May 2003 he realised the project was strong enough to be published and contacted Scotsound’s Chris Stepien. The two met and Scottish Films was born.

Scotsound also reportedly had humble beginnings when Mr.Stepien, now based in Forres, set out over 20 years ago with copies of his own traditional accordion tunes on cassette, not bad for a company who were at one time EMI’s only Scottish outlet. Scotsound came the cream of Scottish music for the soundtrack to ‘Skye – The Movie!’

The film is unique as it has no narration, only rhe great music and poetry, thus creating a more relaxing ‘virtual visit’ which can be experienced more often without the interruptions a spoken voice might make.

A subtle blend of the traditional Gaelic medium and the latest digital approaches, with a lively capturing of Skye's unparalleled scenic environment, results in a new and dynamic form of cinematic experience...
